Choose image

This page accepts PNG files and asks the browser to encode WebP. If this browser cannot do that, the control says so and does not pretend the download is WebP.

How to use it

  1. Drop one or more PNG files.
  2. Move quality until the preview and the output size look acceptable.
  3. Download one result or the whole batch. Each download is a separate file.

Good to know

  • Transparency can survive in WebP. JPEG on the compressor page cannot.
  • A tiny or already simple PNG may not shrink. The measured sizes are still shown.
  • Screenshots with sharp text often look better at a high quality setting.

Questions

Will every browser export WebP?

No. Displaying WebP is common; creating it from a canvas is a separate capability. The status line reports which one you have.

Does this upload the PNG?

No. Decoding and encoding stay in the tab.
