Converting away from JPEG does not make a photo sharper. PNG keeps the pixels without another JPEG pass, which is why the file often grows. WebP can go either way, and Cretivkit will not label a file WebP unless the browser actually produced that type.

How to use it

  1. Drop a .jpg or .jpeg file. Other types are refused on this page.
  2. Choose PNG or WebP.
  3. Download the file whose size is shown. If WebP is unavailable, switch to PNG.

Good to know

  • Use the JPG to WebP page when you want the quality slider aimed at WebP photos.
  • The original JPEG is unchanged.
  • EXIF is not copied into the new file.

Questions

Why is the PNG bigger?

The JPEG was already compressed. PNG stores a full-color image, so growth is normal and is reported as growth.

My file was rejected.
